Meet our Board of Directors

Jenny Pruett
Co-Founder/CEO

Jenny, the long time owner of the flagship business, Juice 'n Java Cafe in downtown Cocoa Beach, FL, sold the business in 2022 to dedicate her full attention to fighting human trafficking. She is grateful for her time at Juice ‘n Java and credits the cafe to being the place where the Freedom Fighter movement was conceived and birthed. For Jenny, once she learned about the scope of human trafficking and its victims she says she couldn’t ‘un-learn’ it and a flame deep inside her was ignited.

She began with the belief that she could contribute something she was already doing, which was roasting coffee, to make a difference in the fight against sexual exploitation. She began roasting and selling ‘Freedom Blend Coffee’ as a way to fundraise for her very first Freedom Hike. This is still true today as she inspires to do something they love and dedicate it to Freedom.

The ‘I am a Freedom Fighter’ movement quickly caught fire to those around her and the brand was trademarked and I Am a Freedom Fighter became a non profit 501(c)3 in 2018.

Jenny has taken her passion and used it to ignite an army of freedom fighters across the globe and to actively engage in the crisis at hand of human trafficking.  She loves the outdoors, sharing it with others and spends her summers training and participating in endurance hikes to raise money and awareness to the cause. Jenny is also dedicated to peoples personal freedom in their own lives and spends time pointing them to the freedom that Christ died to give us. She’s a light in the darkness and burns passionately for the freedom of others.

Christy Masters
Co-Founder/President

Christy has been involved since the inception of I am a Freedom Fighter. She was instrumental in transforming Jenny’s idea of selling Freedom Blend Coffee to raise money for human trafficking into an organization that brings international awareness to the cause. Jenny frequently says that Christy is the one who plucks the ideas right out of her head and makes them happen. Together they have been able to inspire men and women around them to be part of changing the perception of human trafficking in their community and beyond.

Christy lives in Cocoa Beach, FL with her husband, their 4 children and their puppy Milo who currently is responsible for the death of dozens of shoes… good thing he’s cute. Christy owns her own Marketing & Business Consultling company called Teal Reef. She loves being on her boat, snorkeling, reading, hanging out with friends and inspiring others to get involved in the fight against human trafficking.

Nesta Romick
Director of Finance

Nesta is a mother at heart and has always had a burden for children.  She is a proud mom to two grown children and grandmother of 4.  When her children were growing up, her house was the safe haven for teenagers who had no place else to go.  She provided a safe environment for several of them to live  and to hang out for several years.  Now having grandchildren and with the current situation in the world and human trafficking, Nesta has an even bigger passion for protecting and safeguarding children.

Nesta’s professional career started in administrative work. She held the CFO position for a collection agency for two years and has spent the last 23 years as a legal manager for civil litigation work with multiple attorneys in three different states.  She enjoys reading, knitting and walking. We are so grateful for her commitment to I am A Freedom Fighter.

Faye Gallant
Vice President/Community Mobilizer

Faye is from Wales but now proudly calls Cocoa Beach her home where she lives with her husband Brad and their twins Eva and Rhys. She was introduced to the US while working on a cruise ship early in her career. She worked many roles in her time with the cruise lines beginning in the Entertainment department and eventually leading her to a leadership position as a highly regarded Cruise Director.

Most days you can find Faye shuttling her children around town to their sports and drama activities or doing what she really loves which is selling Real Estate. She loves skiing in Colorado, boating, walking the beach and traveling the World with her family. She currently sits on the Board for the Cocoa Beach Jnr/Snr High School Soccer club. But her ultimate enjoyment is entertaining friends at her home.

In the summer of 2021, Faye hiked her first Freedom Hike where she was introduced to the scope of to issue. She just finished her second hike, a 22 mile trail in the Grand Tetons to fundraise and bring awareness to human trafficking, a cause that continues to infiltrate her heart. Her true passion is donating her time wherever possible to enhance her life experience and for others, especially the youth of today. She feels it is so important to make youth aware of the impact they can make by being involved with the community and beyond. The more they are educated today will make a difference for tomorrow.

Gail Connell
Secretary

Gail met Jenny at Juice ‘n Java and has been involved with I am a Freedom Fighter since the beginning. She is currently working towards her degree in Human Services and is specifically specializing in Domestic Violence and Abuse. Her number one goal is to become a substance abuse counselor and serve her community. Her heart has led her to want to work with organizations that support and help women and children and ultimately led her to I Am A Freedom Fighter.

Gail believes she was given a second chance in life and chooses to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. She is passionate about using her real life experience of watching women in less than desirable situations struggle to not understand the option of choosing themselves and their safety and help them recognize coercion and abuse and choose freedom.

Gail continues to be a champion for I am a Freedom Fighter and knows the work they do will change the lives of so many people. She completed her first Freedom Hike in the summer of 2023.

Jenny introduced Brenda to I am a Freedom Fighter a few years ago, and she has been a full supporter and volunteer on many occasions since then.

Now that her children are college age and beginning their adult life, Brenda has decided NOW is the perfect time to be more involved in this mission, is committed to increasing education of this horrible exploitation and use this platform and work with this team for the opportunity to grow awareness and save lives.
